April 2024

This spring we chose to aid the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank's Feed the Need Program. Our matching program supplied funding to generate 30,000 meals!.  For more information on the Food Bank's programs, click here.

Additionally, the Foundation made a donation to the Compassionate Friends- Greensburg Chapter. The group is a self-help organization offering friendship, understanding, and hope to bereaved families that have experienced the death of a child.

Lastly, the Foundation contributed to Life Choices. The organization was founded to provide free pregnancy tests, guidance, and practical support to men, women, and families in the Kittanning area.

 

March 2024

This month, we contributed to Autism Speaks. The non-profit works to provide autism researchadvocacy, services and support to help people with autism and those who support them thrive. For more information, please visit their website.

We also made a donation to Cancer Bridges. Cancer Bridges helps individuals and families navigate their cancer journey through a breadth of free programs, workshops, and services. Our support will help bring a camp to Westmoreland county in honor of Jamie!

February 2024

We helped a new charity this month- H.E.A.L Together. The organization provides a 24 week, culturally- competent and trauma-informed group therapy program designed to support those who have been affected by gun violence in low income communities.  H.E.A.L Together is a collaboration between Highmark's Caring Place and Melanin Mommies PGH Inc.

 

This month the Foundation made a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital’s mission is to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. 

 

We also aided Shannon Reid, director of the First Presbyterian Church preschool, with her annual Easter for Eli Easter basket drive. Easter for Eli is a campaign that collects Easter baskets for sick children in the memory of Eli Garrett, who died of cancer in 2009.

As we've done many times in the past, this month we supported Pittsburgh- based Cancer Bridges. Cancer Bridges helps individuals and families navigate their cancer journey through a breadth of free programs, workshops, and services.

A donation was also made to Birthright of Johnstown. Birthright is an organization that supplies new moms in need with supplies, clothes and other necessary items for their newborn babies.  Jamie had such a strong love for all children and always wanted to help those who were disadvantaged in any way. 

November 2023

This fall we had the opportunity to aid the “Greater Latrobe School District Education Partnership Safety Program”.  Additionally, the Foundation distributed and delivered 300 free hot turkey dinners to local families in need.

In September, we funded Reagan's Journey. The non-profit operates a free pediatric and medical supply closet for families and therapists. For more information, visit their website.

August 2023

We aided the Food 2 Go 4 Kids program via Our Lady of Grace Church. The program provides weekend and holiday food bags for children that qualify for the free and reduced lunches through West Point Elementary school.

July 2023

In July, a donation was made to Circle Camps.  The Camp’s mission is to provide a free summer camp for girls who have experienced the death of a parent.  Their goal is to help prepare girls to become confident young women while dealing with the loss of a parent. The donation provides items the campers will need for this upcoming season. 

Additionally, the Foundation contributed to the Education Partnership. The Pittsburgh- based non-profit's mission is to provide school supplies to students and teachers in under-resourced schools across Southwestern PA.

May 2023

We also teamed up with Friends to Friends, Inc. to sponsor a day of fishing at Keystone state park. The organization strives to bring awareness of adults and children with disabilities through community interaction.

We joined Penn State Altoona in forming "The Jamie Cordial Hall Kindness Program Endowment." The Program is an extension of the Counseling and Psychological Service (CAPS) on campus and will aid students

in need of services.

This month, Jamie’s JCH Foundation distributed and delivered 450 free hot turkey dinners to local families in need.

This fall, the Foundation teamed up with the Latrobe Rotary Club to help fund their back pack program. The program supplies food for elementary school students in need throughout the Greater Latrobe school district.

In July, the Foundation established The Jamie Cordial Hall Memorial Endowed Scholarship and the Jamie Cordial Hall Annual Kindness Scholarship Award to provide tuition assistance to the families of students interested in attending the preschool programs at the Seton Hill Child Development Center.

 

“The Seton Hill Child Development Center offers full and half-day programs for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds to help them develop social skills while providing a foundation for learning in science, art, math, language arts, music and movement,“ said Maria Stone, Director of the Child Development Center at Seton Hill. “We are grateful to the Jamie Cordial Hall Foundation for this generous gift to enable children – regardless of their financial circumstance – to benefit from the Center’s programs as they begin their educational journey.”

Additionally, we became a Platinum Sponsor of the Norwin Playground Project, which was formed to replace and upgrade playground equipment at each of the Norwin district's elementary schools.

We chose to aid the Blue Knights' charitable endeavor this holiday season. The organization plans to hold a party for children in the Westmoreland County Children's Bureau. The funds we provided will supplement the party supplies and gifts for children in our local foster care system.

November 2021

This month, we made a substantial donation to the Highmark Caring Place, which provides grief supports for children. The funds will help to create a sensory friendly area for children with special needs and or autism.

October 2021

This October, the Foundation chose to provide aid to the ALM Foundation. This organization is similar in makeup to our Foundation and with that, we share many goals and interests. They also strive to help youth in the surrounding area.

 

Additionally, we had to opportunity to contribute towards adaptive seating options for current and future special needs students at Seton Hill's Child Development Center preschool program.

August 2021

This month, we partnered with The Rotary Club of Westmoreland to support  Irwin-based non-profit, "Rooted Outreach".  The group combats human trafficking and sexual assault/abuse in our area. JCH funded children's kits, called Sprouted in Love kits, which are sent out to local hospitals and provide victims of trafficking and sexual assault/abuse with new, clean clothes to replace any garments confiscated during an exam.

June 2021

In the month of June, the Foundation honored a grant request to Maxwell Elementary School for a sensory room to aid in sensory breaks for Learning Support students and children on the Autism Spectrum. The Foundation also sponsored a golf outing and dinner hosted by the Westmoreland Center for Internal Medicine.  Proceeds were donated to Autism Speaks.

 

May 2021

Additionally, a grant request was honored to Stage Right School for the Performing Arts.  In the wake of the difficult year, the funds will allow up to 30 financially strained students to attend Stage Right's Summer Camp programs.

April 2021

For the month of April, the Foundation also made a donation to the “Giant Eagle Feed the Need Program”. This program helps to feed families and kids in our community that have been impacted by job loss, health issues, or any other issues related to the Corona Virus Pandemic.  The JCH Foundation was able to provide 5000 meals to those in desperate need of food!

Also to honor of World Autism Month, the JCH Foundation made a donation to “Greater Latrobe Partners in Education Foundation” to support classroom and social programs for students with special needs.

For the month of December, the Foundation provided a grant to sustain psychological services for those in need through Our ClubhouseOur Clubhouse is an independent nonprofit that offers social, emotional and wellness support to those in our region touched by cancer.  Please visit their website for more information.

November 2020

The Foundation recently made a donation to help fund a "Scentsy Buddy Drive" at UPMC Children's Hospital. Liam's Buddy Drive was initiated by an area nurse, in her son's honor,  to help provide aromatherapy stuffed animals for patients in the hematology/ oncology unit at Pittsburgh's Children's Hospital.  We are pleased that with our assistance, the entire floor at the hospital will receive a gift in time for the holidays.

The JCH Foundation has recently made a donation to the Foundation for Christian Counseling. This donation will be earmarked to provide individual grief counseling for children who have lost parents, grandparents, or who have other significant grief management issues.  We are excited to be able to work with the Foundation for Christian Counseling to provide these individual counseling sessions to children in need who cannot afford the sessions. Our Foundation recently made a donation to aid a Penn Trafford elementary school charity drive. Sunrise Elementary School set out to collect toys, books, coloring books, stickers, art supplies, blankets and crafts for oncology patients being treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville, in honor of Lilli Durante of Manor.  Lilli is a kindergarten student battling a brain tumor and who is undergoing chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital. The JCH Foundation has recently made a significant donation to The Highmark Caring Place.  The Caring Place is a center for grieving children, adolescents, and their families.  Their mission is to raise awareness of the needs of grieving children, provide programs to address those needs, and to equip the community to support those children who have experienced the death of a loved one.  Their mission is compatible with the mission of the JCH Foundation to provide assistance to children who have lost their parents. April 2019

In honor of World Autism Month, the JCH Foundation is working with Mountain View Elementary School, in the Greater Latrobe School District, to supply sensory kits for their classrooms.  These sensory kits will allow children on the Autism spectrum to “fidget” and remain in a mainstream classroom setting.  We are very pleased to be able to help provide these tools for the students that need them. Potentially, more than 600 children may benefit from the kits.

We also made a donation to the Borough of South Greensburg, which is in the process of the complete replacement of the Sheraton Avenue Playground.  We are very excited to provide a donation towards this playground with the goal that it serves as a place for kids to play, run, grow, and above all, be safe.

We recently joined forces with Shannon Reid, director of the First Presbyterian Church preschool, to amplify her 4th annual Easter for Eli Easter basket drive. Easter for Eli is a campaign that collects Easter baskets for sick children in the memory of Eli Garrett, who died of cancer in 2009. With our donation, Ms. Reid will be able to assemble over 65 baskets to donate to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.  Her 2019 goal is 150 baskets.

 

We have also made a donation to the Seton Hill Child Development Center to build a musical playground for the kids in the three and four year old programs.  We are excited to provide this opportunity for kids to learn and grow.  The playground will be installed in early March.  

 

Jamie attended the Child Development Center as a child and now her daughter, Chloe, continues the family tradition.  Jamie was always very supportive of the excellent program they have developed at Seton Hill.
